Kimberley Cruise with True North
"Our trip to the Kimberley was fantastic. One of the best holidays we have ever had. The True North experience couldn’t be faulted. The crew, ship, helicopter, expedition tenders, food, grog (54 wines to choose from across all price ranges), experiences, itinerary, just amazing. We would strongly recommend them and would consider another cruise with them in the future. Being such a spectacular and remote part of Australia, ship and helicopter is the only way to go. We are glad we did the longer itinerary (13 nights) but I think the 8 night package would also be great.
Items to note:
- Bare foot policy on the boat means an instantly relaxed atmosphere. Casual attire throughout
- Great crew interaction. All very impressive. Great company culture. Very interactive with the guests. 20 crew in total. 36 guest maximum but we only had 24. So under booked
- Laundry was same day and included. So you don’t need to pack a lot
- Lots of fishing opportunities and lots of seafood on the menu including mud crabs and oysters
- Lunch and dinner are cooked meals. Food is very good
- Nothing was too much trouble. We decided to stay on board one day when everyone else was going ashore and they made a very nice romantic lunch for us on the bow.
- The onboard marine biologist nicknamed “Expert” was well named. Each cruise has one to add extra learning opportunities. Several presentations and many daily excursions to study the marine life, geology, rock art, etc
- The complimentary Kimberley book, post trip coffee table book and end of trip slide show on a USB are great touches and something to show your friends
- They have some interesting newish itineraries up into New Guinea and Bougainville
- Passports not needed
I must add that the vessel was immaculate for being 20 years old. They have an open bridge policy so any guest can pop in for a chat with the Captain and view the amazing array of instruments and equipment.”
